A gate is used as an entry or exit into a plot. It may also be used to secure the home compound. This are made of different materials. They could be made with timber, steel sections or metal sheets. The home owner desires a beautiful entry into the compound. the gate may have a sentry cubicle on the side to control movement into and out of the compound. The height can vary depending on the location. If its fixed on a long driveway it can be opened by remote control.

The gate should is fixed such that the home owner can open and close effortlessly. It is important to have the posts hanging the gate very strong. The hanging post can be made of steel or concrete stanchions. This should not buckle under the weight. The hinge system should be able to open and close smoothly. On the hanging stanchion, a bell or security system can be installed. Also lighting should be provided for ensuring a lit entry or exit into the home. Also a gate sensor can be added.

Once the gate is fabricated then fixing commences. The width of the gate is measured and the support post position is established. Column pits are excavated to a depth of three feet. The stanchions are plumbed and kept straight upwards. These should also be in line. The stanchion column is then put into the excavated holes. Concrete of one part cement, two parts sand and four parts ballast is mixed and poured into the pit. It is then vibrated properly. Power points are placed on the side and top for lighting and the bell.

The gate stanchion concrete should dry for at least four days. The gate is then lifted and put into position on the hinges. If the columns are done correctly it will fit on the provide hinges. The top of the hinge is then capped by welding to prevent lifting of the gate. The tower bolt position is marked at the center of the gate. Two steel round hollow sections of one feet long are driven into the ground. A concrete surround is done to prevent movement when locking the gate.

The chances are good that you have seen a home with steel siding. Steel is the most commonly used material in America for house siding. Its popularity is attributed to its high degree of durability. It is said that steel can withstand nearly anything that mother nature can toss at it, and a few man-made problems as well.

Steel siding has been on the market for many years. Homes in both South and North America have been using this material for quite a long time. One of the most important things to know what steel siding is how well it resists both fire and water.

Much like other forms of siding steel siding requires proper maintenance to ensure that lasts for years. The proper maintenance of steel siding is as easy as regularly washing it with a garden hose. Besides being incredibly easy to clean steel siding will never rust, Flake, or chip even after putting up with the most brutal of weather conditions, and less than gentle cleanings.

Nowadays steel siding comes in many different colors and styles. Each one more unique than the last. A variety of colors, sizes, it shapes, and textures are available to today’s homeowner. There is a type of steel siding to fit anyone’s preferences.

Nowadays there is a new option available in steel siding. Seamless steel siding is a custom-made steel siding solution that is produced to fit the exact dimensions of your home. It is called seamless because it wraps around your house in a seamless fashion. This is achieved by cutting the steel siding on the construction site to the exact dimensions of the home. This method of installation significantly set steel siding apart from vinyl or aluminum because it completely removes any of the potential gaps that could be present, leading to water damage.

An additional benefit to seamless steel siding is that it comes at the vinyl topcoat eliminating the need for painting. Even more impressively, this vinyl topcoat will not be affected by weather conditions the same way that paint will. It will not scratch, chip, or be affected by conditions such as acid rain. Indeed steel siding is impressive when compared to its competition.

It is no wonder that steel siding, whether it be the seamless variety or the traditional, maintains a high degree of popularity. Architects, planners, developers, and engineers all know that nothing beats steel siding when it comes to durability, strength, and longevity. Steel siding is available the world over, and quickly making inroads into the larger vinyl and aluminum industries. Homeowners across the world are starting to realize the benefits of steel siding, and once they start looking into it is highly unlikely that they will make any other choice.

The advent of the Internet has made it even easier for homeowners to find steel siding products. As with most things comparison-shopping is the homeowners best bet to find a great deal on steel siding prices in a style that suits their needs.

A stately fireplace chimney is always a regal structure for a home. If you drive through some neighborhoods and count the chimneys crowning a home, you can only wonder what kind of magnificent works of stone or brick might be inside. In older houses unfortunately, some fireplaces have been closed off or walled off completely from use because of changing use or design tastes or because there is some question about the structural integrity of the chimney itself. This is where a stainless steel chimney cap can come into play.

The elements are the biggest enemies of chimneys. If there are not sealed properly, moisture can into the cracks and slowly destroy the chimney itself. Brick chimneys are particularly susceptible to this. Like potholes in the highway created by moisture and temperature changes, brick chimneys can look like they have giant pock marks on the sides. A stainless steel chimney cap can provide the extra protection needed against the rain. These caps also protect the chimney against the wind as they inhibit the erosion that can occur with wind.

Another enemy of chimneys is wildlife. Birds and squirrels and a plethora of other animals love to make chimneys their home. If fireplaces have not been used for a period of years, these animals can set up housekeeping if the chimney has not been capped properly. This will require major cleaning if the fireplace is to be used. Another thing to consider in the protection of the chimney is an outside door that allows for the cleaning of the ash out of the fireplace from the outside. If this outside door is not properly sealed, this can be another entrance for unwanted critters into the home.

Take care of your chimney with a stainless steel chimney cap and it will take care of your for years to come.

Carports and garages today offer more than just vehicle shelter solutions. Traditional or standard carports are designed to be simple and inexpensive shelters that typically consist of metal framing with an aluminum roof. The structures are sturdy enough to offer adequate protection for vehicles, equipment, and more. Companies today have branched out into other types of shelter with similar materials but for completely different functions. For instance, many companies now carry sheds, garages, workshops, utility buildings, and even barns.

The main difference between the different types of structures basically involves the construction or architecture. Traditional carports were designed to be simple, easy to install covers that could protect your vehicles from the outdoor elements that are known to cause damage like overexposure to the sun, storms with high winds and hail, and even the need to scrape snow and ice. Modern structures are actual buildings designed to serve a basic function but also intended to accommodate many other outdoor shelter needs.

Metal sheds are designed for the storage of outdoor equipment like lawnmowers, lawn tractors, rakes, hoes, and other gardening or landscaping supplies. An alternative use for metal sheds might include a workshop for woodworking or blacksmithing. Sheds are also helpful in storage of seasonal outdoor items like furniture and decorations. Metal garages have similar uses with the addition of also being able to store larger equipment or vehicles like cars, trucks, and even boats. Utility buildings made of metal are designed for the purpose of providing shelter for maintenance or manufacturing functions including vehicle maintenance, large wood construction, and even for the storage of larger outdoor equipment like tractors and haulers.

Metal barns, on the other hand, are specifically designed for the purpose of providing shelter for animals. Shelter is essential for animals regardless of the outdoor conditions including weather and predators. Summer hot spells can be detrimental to an animal’s well being and the same can be said for harsh winter conditions. Aluminum barns are an inexpensive and conducive way of protecting your animals and ensuring that they are safe during the hours of the night when no one else is around to provide them protection.

When looking to purchase carports and garages it is important to know exactly the size structure and function you need. The possibilities are endless and the prices vary greatly depending on materials and size. Many metal carport kits are available for sale which make the assembly and installation process much easier for the consumer. Shopping around is a wise move especially if you use the internet. Try to find local distributors so you can save on shipping costs.

We all have tools, equipment, garden furniture and lawn and garden products that need to be stored and protected. For those outdoor items, some people use their garages but then their car won’t be able to use the garage. The alternative that many of us use is to buy a steel garden shed.

There are a number of things that need to be considered before you buy a new steel shed.

1.	What are you going to use it for? Now this may seem like a “duh” statement but consider this carefully. What you need to store will determine the size of the shed. Make a list of all of the items that will need to be housed in the storage shed and the figure out just how big your new shed will be.

2.	Now that you have a size, you need to determine just where you will place the new shed. Accessibility and aesthetics (visual good looks) come into play here. As well however, local building by-laws may dictate just how close to property lines you can place your new shed. This brings us to consideration number three.

3.	What are the local building codes for accessory buildings such as your new garden shed? Do you need a building permit?

4.	What will your new steel shed look like? What shape and style will it be? What color would you like? Steel garden sheds today come in many shapes sizes, styles and color. Don’t limit yourself because one particular supplier doesn’t offer the shed that you would like. Shop around to find what you want and at the best price.

5.	What type of floor will be in your new shed? Typically, steel garden shed kits do not come with a floor. Will you want to pour a concrete floor? Will you use patio blocks? Will your floor be gravel or just dirt? Remember here that steel garden sheds are strong and lightweight. The lightweight part means that they are susceptible to strong winds so you new shed will need to be anchored down well.

If you consider all of these items carefully, you will be well on your way to making the right purchase for your garden storage needs.

A Little Bit Of Info About The Versatility Of Stainless Steel Sheet.Stainless steel is a marvelous invention that changed the face of industrial, commercial, and domestic metallurgy forever. It is such a normal part of our everyday lives that we may not notice its presence, but we would definitely notice its absence. Here’s a little bit about this amazing and versatile alloy.

Carbon steel has long been used for construction and other uses, of course, but its main drawback was its corrosive nature. Any kind of exposure to the elements meant rust, rust, and more rust. Very few steel artifacts remain from ancient times because they simply crumbled away over the centuries unless they were protected in some way. In the 19th century, European metallurgists discovered that adding chromium to carbon steel would make it much more corrosion-resistant, but they were never able to create practical applications for their discovery.

In the 20th century, however, Americans found a workable formula for combining chromium with steel, and “stainless steel” was officially patented. Although it is technically not completely stainless, a steel/chromium alloy containing at least 11% chromium is much more stain resistant than its pure carbon counterpart, and does not rust or corrode nearly as easily.

Though originally seen as a great solution for cutlery, clever and enterprising pioneering inventors and engineers soon found a host of applications for it, particularly in the area of architecture.

During the art deco period of the 1920’s, American buildings began to take on a luster that they did not have before: New York’s Chrysler Building, for example, had its top covered with intricately and artistically cut sheets of stainless. The Gateway Arch in St Louis is perhaps the best example of a monument protected by the non-corrosive properties of stainless steel. With very little maintenance over the years, these two structures still look as fresh as the day they were built.

In addition to architecture, It is used for machinery of all kinds, commercial kitchens, medical instruments, lighting fixtures, restaurant furniture, household appliances, backyard grills, and even jewelry. It has also become a favorite with amateur metal workers who want to create sculptures, box planters, and even mailboxes for their homes!

The higher the chromium content, the greater the weather protection, and there are over 150 different grades of stainless steel alloys available on the market today. Which kind is used depends entirely on its application.

The chameleon-like properties of a stainless steel sheet are the main reasons why it is so widely used yet so little noticed. We’ve come to take stainless steel for granted in our everyday lives, yet we’d hardly know how to live without it anymore.

If you are having penchant for hard core killer abs and also you are willing to work hard for getting your abs toned, then there is something that you must read. Proper guidance is a must before starting working on it. To achieve your dream abs is not a big deal and that too with only few hours of hard work every day. One has to be determined and has to follow strict diet and exercise schedules.

Given below are the few tips, which will surely help you to realize your dream of perfect six packs abs :

1. Training abs by heavy exercising:

Your abs must get used to heavy exercising. It is possible only with the use of heavy resistances in the intensified training. It should be repeated for at least eight to ten times. Keep on adding more exercises gradually in your schedule and repeat them for five to six times. All these training exercises are meant for enhancing your stamina and also for ripping the abs against the muscle so that they get toned up. There are few exercises which are very effective on abdominal areas. It is advised not to over-exert yourself. These exercises are:-

a. Cable crunches b. Weighted leg raises c. Weighted decline crunches

2. Diet:

The food you consume is equally important to achieve good, toned abs. Instead of dieting, one must take regular but small meals. Consistent meals throughout the day provide sufficient amount of energy, required by our body after intensive exercises. Be sure that the diet you consume contains proper amount of proteins, carbohydrates, fats so that the rate of metabolism in the body remains perfect. The common problem faced by many people is the lack of water or dehydration. So it is advised to drink lots of water before starting exercise.

3. Cardiovascular exercising:

About 90% of the excess fat present in our body is burnt through these exercises. These exercises include running, jogging, cycling, aerobics etc. A large amount of energy is dissipated during these workouts. These forms of exercising should be practiced during the morning hours. Once the excessive fat of your body is lost, your abdominal muscles will start coming to the fore. These works wonder for the muscle tissues.

4. Mass of the muscles:

Apart from focusing on the abdominal muscles, one must work on muscles of other body parts also. As we have to represent our body as a whole and not only the abdominal part, so other parts of the body should also be in proper shape.

Will the requirement to buy only US steel for the slated stimulus projects upset the United State’s trading partners? The answer is yes, and it’s kind of unfortunate considering how little steel will actually be bought as part of the infrastructure projects assigned for economic recovery and job creation.

Will our trading partners follow suit and move towards protectionism also? Indeed, there will be a reciprocal response and right now that is the last thing the US needs is a trade war. Indeed, we must remember that Caterpillar just laid off 20,000 people, why?

Well construction is down here, but China also stopped building too, and Caterpillar was big in China, in fact most of their sales. With shipping stopped and trucking way down, no one needs Caterpillar’s engines for trucks either, even with the new emissions standard regulations are not significantly boosting sales.

Meanwhile many independent operators have BK’d. We have Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbuilt, and Volvo all closing truck manufacturing plants and laying off people. With 30,000 jobs at CAT and 10,000 lost at Boeing, you can already see the economic ramifications of this.

Of course, Senator Obama hammered on NAFTA during his marketing campaigns in PA, OH, MI and Milwaukee, WI. He got union support even though he handed a loss in TX for it, remember TX sells lots to Mexico.

One important point I’d like to make is that our “Iron Ore” is the most pure in the World. All that the Obama Administration really has to do is set standards for the quality of the iron ore, and that means they have to buy it here, besides these are our bridges and they’ll need to last another 50-years, so it’s justified.

Merely, bringing up this requirement that the stimulus bill will only use US steel sends “alarm bells” throughout the world and puts trading partners is a precarious place.

At Davos they are calling everything (world financial crisis) our fault. The President of China (without naming names) hammered on us, and they own our debt, if we continue to deficit spend, China will stop buying our debt. Russia, yah, like we care, also blamed us for the financial crisis.

But also remember Boeing laid off 10,000 people and they want to sell jets to China, which is boosting their airlines over a billion dollars with a stimulus of their own. A Russian airline just cancelled 18 Boeing Dreamliners; (2) reasons, one due to delays and the other, they are broke and pissed off, blame us. Yes, again, I understand who cares, as some people believe Putin is a thug, KGB Russian Mob leader, but it still matters.

World Trade matters, it matters very much and we need a Presidential Administration that is savvy enough to navigate these waters in troubled times. Please consider this.

If you’re an intermediate in the fitness arena, chances are you want to achieve more than just your target weight or your ideal body mass index. You’ve got your diet and nutrition program down pat and you have no problems with following through on your exercise regimen.

If you want to take fitness to the next level, you’re moving towards sculpting and trimming identified problem areas. For some, it’s the back and shoulder areas, some the arms and biceps; for women it’s mostly hips and thighs.

The abs area is a common denominator however. The sight of muscled and hard abs in men or tight and flat abs among women has always had a strong attraction factor. If you ask people what their motivation for working out in the gym is, they’ll tell you they want abs – and its not just flab-free abs they’re after its abs of steel.

Good news is you too can get abs of steel without buying special exercise equipment. There is an inexpensive exercise tool that can help give you abs of steel even if you work out from home for a few minutes every day.

The stability ball is popularly used in pilates and yoga classes. It resembles a big beach ball, only firmer and made of more durable material. The beauty of using a stability ball is that it strengthens your entire core area – which includes the lower back and your pelvic region – not just the abs or stomach area.

Since yoga and pilates all for very demanding poses or asanas, they pay special attention to strengthening their core areas using the stability ball. If the core is strong enough, the entire body is able to sustain or endure stringent physical training.

The tricky part is being able to balance yourself on top of the ball. So what’s the secret? Take a deep breath and suck your stomach in and hold it. You have to maintain a tight stomach while sitting on top of the stability ball. This alone is a great ab workout!

There are plenty of stability ball work outs to try, just begin with the most basic and do only the number of repetitions you are comfortable with. You can do crunches, twists, push ups, ball pikes, corkscrews and pikes on the stability ball – over time you’ll not only get abs of steel but a stronger midsection and core area.

Motherwell is a former burgh of North Lanarkshire in Scotland and was known as the steel capital or ‘Steelopolis’ of Scotland. Between 1700 and 1800, the population of Motherwell rose from four hundred people to thirteen thousand people. Workers came to the new prosperity to find better homes and lives for their families.

Motherwell itself is known from at least the eleventh century. Although not know for sure, it is thought that the name derives from one of three wells which are found in the area. This is known as Our Lady’s Well, or for locals Mother’s well. The provenance of this derivation is not entirely established.

The site was inhabited from Roman times. They used the area as one of the main trading routes into Scotland and was always the site of a settlement alongside the river Clyde. It was a tiny sleepy farming village. Potatoes were introduced into this area in the 14th century and were so unusual and popular that there are many family stories about them and new recipes around them abounded.

Then with the advent of the railways in the 1800s the area took off with a bang. Iron and steel foundries were established rapidly. The Ravenscraig steelworks had the largest single production line in Europe. By the mid twentieth century, 1.2million tonnes of iron were produced from this area alone. A massive ouput, which was equal to the whole production of the 1800s.

All too quickly, this vast production declined however. What was left, pollution, unemployment and dashed hopes. Motherwell today is emerging shining and new from the soot of its past. Much of the old building facades have been cleaned. New types of industries have arrived. But if you visit the Heritage centre, you can see that Motherwell still remembers too, its shining past.
